The first round of the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters is under way on a glorious opening day at Buckinghamshire Golf Club, home to the Ladies European Tour’s headquarters.

Despite hitting a bogey-clear round and birdies at the second, eleventh, fourteenth and final hole, the leading lady in the LET 2010 money list, Le-Anne Pace could not shake off Carin Koch and both share the lead after the morning’s play on -4 going into day two.

As the afternoon session gets into full swing, there are stronger winds to contend with, which Pace mastered perfectly in the early sessions.

Pace has a quintet of LET titles to her name, but none since that top-earner season two years ago.

But she’s finding form again, finishing T2 in her homeland last month and hitting 14 out of 18 greens in regulation today.

Her experience proved vital as the blustering breeze altered her planned golf cub regime on the dog-legging Buckinghamshire Golf Club course.

In total contrast, Carin Koch’s round was a mismatch of stunning strokes and frustrating fumbles.

An eagle followed by a birdie saw her already three under as she approched the third (well, 12th, as she started on the back nine).  Further birdies on the seventeenth, first, seventh and final ninth holes helped redeem the dropped shots in between as she bogeyed the thiteenth sixtenth and sixth leaving her likewise on four under after day one..

**just in – Henriette Zuel & Lydia Hall now share the lead on -5 and they’re almost done; they’re playing hole 6, but started on the back nine, so have only 3 to play.

Stacy Keating, Laura Davies and Stacy Bregman all share T3 on -4 with Koch and Pace and all three have six holes left to play, Keating and Davies holes 4-9 as they started on 10, Bregman 13-18 having started on 1.

More from Denman and the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters tomorrow.

TTFN, Thet Watson.

p.s. – Beth Allen has just moved onto -4 also, with three to go on hole sixteen, now…
